Monash University Sunway Campus
Monash University Sunway Campus (MUSC) was established in 1998 as a partnership between Monash University Australia (MUA) and the Sunway Group. Monash University is an energetic and dynamic university committed to quality education, outstanding research and international engagement. The university complies with the standards prescribed by the Ministry of Higher Education, Malaysia and Australian Universities Quality Agency (AUQA).
The Sunway campus is home to around 5,000 students and continues to develop steadily and enjoys excellent facilities for world-class education and research. The academic staff are leading experts in their disciplines and are highly committed to the growth of the institution. All academic staff members engage in scholarly research, making the institution more research intensive.
The campus offers undergraduate and postgraduate degree programs through six academic Schools - Arts and Social Sciences, Business, Engineering, Information Technology, the Jeffrey Cheah School of Medicine and Health Sciences, and Science. It has a number of administrative departments providing a full range of technical, information technology and other services in support of its academic programs.
Students at the Sunway campus participate in the international exchange opportunities available to all Monash students. Student experiences are enhanced through clubs and societies. The campus offers cutting edge infrastructure and high quality support services that enable Monash to be at the leading edge of innovation in its core activities of teaching, learning and research.
Students are encouraged to study across Monash University campuses through the available exchange and transfer programs. Internship, study trips (locally and internationally), workshops and public lectures by industry experts and renowned academics are also built into programs and courses.

Monash University Sunway campus is a purpose-built facility that opened in 2007. The buildings are disability-friendly and the centerpiece is the three-storey oval-shaped Library and Learning Commons equipped with IT facilities and designed to encourage student interaction. The landscaping of the campus ensures students learn in a 'green' environment.


Library and Learning Commons
The campus library has a collection of 315,000 e-books, 60,000 e-journals, 1000 electronic databases and a compilation of visuals and sound recordings. Students can access the Monash online database collection that includes 243,838 e-books, 33,991 e-serials and 798 electronic databases as well as online lectures, reading lists and past exams.
Information Technology Services
The Information Technology Services (ITS) Department is the core IT service provider for Monash University Sunway campus. The campus has more than 80 computers, including 28 in its training room and five express terminals for quick search and locating items in the catalogue. The campus uses ‘Eduroam’ (education roaming) – a secure, worldwide roaming access service developed for the international research and education community. Eduroam, the first of its kind in Malaysia, allows students, researchers and staff from participating institutions to obtain Internet connectivity across campus and when visiting other participating institutions by simply opening their laptop.
Teaching facilities
The campus has two auditoriums capable of accommodating 350 people each, a 150-capacity plenary theatre , three medium-sized lecture theatres for 150 students each, and six smaller theatres that each accommodate 120 students.
Facilities at the Schools
- The School of Arts and Social Sciences offers a state-of-the-art radio and TV studio, multimedia lab, journalism lab and communications.
- The School of Business students have a wide range of campus facilities for their studies that include the Islamic Banking and Finance resource centre, and online resources.
- The School of Engineering students have access to 24 sophisticated labs.
- The School of Information Technology has a networking lab and a specialised multimedia teaching lab.
- The Jeffrey Cheah School of Medicine and Health Sciences provides its students advanced histopathology and anatomy labs as well as well-equipped learning suites.
- The School of Science has 40 labs for teaching and research that include applied immunology and pathology, animal tissue culture, plant tissue culture, genetics, herbarium, microbiology, human physiology, biochemistry and more.
