KDU is now KDU University College
PETALING JAYA, 4 November 2010 – KDU added another remarkable milestone in its journey of providing quality tertiary education in Malaysia, with the official launch of KDU University College today by the Minister of Higher Education, Yang Berhormat Dato' Seri Mohd Khaled Nordin.
Established in 1983, KDU has been an important landmark in the development of private tertiary education and continues to be an innovative leader in providing a superior learning experience to nurture students.

The official launch of its ‘University College’ status was a testament to its education strength.
Designed as a career university, KDU University College’s focus is to produce work-ready graduates who are grounded with a strong foundation in character and knowledge in their specialization.

KDU UC programmes are very market-relevant as they are designed with industry feedback. The programmes offered under KDU UC allows flexibility of choice of subjects in order to craft the degree of the student’s preference and students will be able to plan for either a single or dual major or minor course of study, resulting in them becoming graduates who are ever so versatile in blending into most industries.
Taking helm of KDU UC as its Chancellor and Vice Chancellor are Dato’ Teo Chiang Quan and Yang Berbahagia Emeritus Professor Tan Sri Dato’ Dr Khoo Kay Khim respectively.
At the launch, which wass held at KDU’s Damansara Jaya campus, Dato’ Khaled Nordin commended KDU on taking this step to grow in maturity as an institution of higher learning, as it signifies that it is ready to be a centre and creator of knowledge that is relevant to the development of the country and the region.

KDU UC Chancellor, Dato’ Teo, echoed the minister’s sentiments and said, “We must ensure that our programmes are relevant to what the industry needs; that our students will learn beyond the classroom and realize their full potential to become successful and relevant individuals; that the quality of education offered at all times is of the highest standard.”
Continuing, he said, “I believe with the flexibility our students gain in crafting the degree of their choice, they will stand out with an added advantage and prove to be an asset to our country. Thus, helping to drive Malaysia to become an international education hub and a producer of first world talent base.”

Joining Dato’ Khaled Nordin on stage to officially launch KDU University College were KDU UC Chancellor Dato’ Teo Chiang Quan, Vice Chancellor Emeritus Professor Tan Sri Dato’ Dr Khoo Kay Khim, KDU Directors Dato' Md Taib bin Abdul Hamid, Dato' Hj Azlan bin Hashim and Mr. Ong Keng Siew, as well the President of the KDU Student Council, Ms. Evelyn Yap.
The launch was also made memorable with performances by students from the institution’s various schools, including an impressive glow-in-the-dark hand mime performance by the School of Pre-University Studies.
KDU also unveiled its plan for the Glenmarie campus, a state-of-the-art green campus with comprehensive training facilities to provide students a conducive learning environment. The campus, which is built for up to 10,000 students, is slated to be ready by 2013.
