KBU International College celebrates its 20th Anniversary in a glorious, glitzy and glamorous gala
(Bandar Utama) 22 October 2010- KBU International College, a successful premier private college celebrated its 20th year anniversary with a glamorous dinner celebration at One World Hotel today. Known for its excellence, quality and holistic education, the gala dinner was graced by YBhg Datuk Haji Omar bin Abdul Rahman, Deputy Secretary General, Division of Management, Ministry of Higher Education; who is representing the Guest-of-Honour, the Minister of Higher Education, YBhg Dato’ Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin, dignitaries and education leaders from various education centres, KBU’s chairman, YBhg Tan Sri Dato’ ( Dr) Teo Soo Cheng, YBhg Prof Dato’ (Dr) Teo Chiang Liang, Chief Executive of KBU, KBU’s Board of Governess, partners, alumni, staff and students. The ‘Glorious 20th Anniversary Gala Dinner & Prom Night’, was a joint effort by staff and students as the Student Council of KBU merged their prom with the gala dinner to celebrate the anniversary. The ‘masquerade party’ themed prom was called Beauty Redefined as the first ever Miss KBU, Natasha Tung Yan Chi was crowned.
As the staff, industry partners, students and alumni came together to celebrate the occasion, Chief Executive, Prof (Dr) Teo Chiang Liang also took this opportunity to record his gratitude to all those who have helped KBU grow and reach the success its paved today.
Besides, the exciting performances from staff and students, the guests witnessed the launching of KBU’s commemorative book called ‘20 Years of Excellence’. The book which documents KBU’s history and achievements were given away to all guests as a token of appreciation for their attendance. KBU’s long serving staffs (who have served for more than 15 years) were also presented with awards to appreciate their contribution toward the success of The College.
Dato’ Teo in his address thanked the member of the Board of Governors, Academic Advisory Boards, partners, staff, alumni and students to for making KBU’s journey over the last 20 years most impressive and meaningful. Dato’ Teo adds, “I applaud the students for their wisdom in accepting the challenge to strive to gain the knowledge to equip them for a bright future. It is certainly a worthwhile pursuit as evidenced by those who have already graduated. I am proud to mention that KBU graduates have high employability, and the qualifications to pursue postgraduate degrees at universities locally and abroad.”
KBU International College has enjoyed a far-reaching collaboration with International educational institutes from the UK and abroad. KBU has also significantly contributed towards strengthening the country’s human capital by producing graduates who are competent and well-trained. KBU graduates have successfully gained employment in diverse fields ranging from engineering to ICT, graphic design to interior architecture, banking and finance, hospitality and tourism industry, all within a short period of time and in many instances, immediately upon their graduation.
The Glorious 20Th Anniversary Gala Dinner & Prom Night ended on a high note with the crowning of the first ever Miss KBU by Datin Luan Teo, wife of the Chief Executive, Prof Dato’ Teo Chiang Liang. Students then stayed on to continue their prom night in a fashionable manner.
